Boxer Transition to Jeet Kune Do Part 2

by Tom Harvey on 2009/10/12

This entry is part 2 of 2 in the series Boxer Migration to JKD

It has been awhile since I have posted on Steve’s progress as he makes his transition. Below is a short clip with some highlights on his progress. His footwork is looking better and his punches are starting to become more relaxed. It is also worth noting, as it may not be obvious, that he is successfully making the transition to the Unorthodox stance. This takes time in an of itself. He is training to be orthodox and unorthodox which will make him much more versatile fighter.

Keep up the good work Steve.

Thanks Jim! Tom has a great way of being able to break things down for a person and an even better way of taking motion and explaining the physics of it. I know I’m getting some of the best instruction around and if there’s anything I’ve learned so far, its this: NO question is a bad question. Thank you for the comment and keep checking back to see the improvement!

Steve..you are doing a good job and I don’t think I would want to get into a cage with you. Great video with shadow boxing. I am currently training a little and can not get shadow boxing down. It feels weird hitting the air. How do you shadow box and make it work? I feel like I need a contact hit to make it effective. I think I over throw my punches when I do shadow box.
