Equipment Review | Tiger Claw Kick Shield
Wanted to write a quick review on a kick shield that was present at yesterday’s seminar. This shield was brought by Richard and Justin Fisher, two of THT’s JKD students from Williston, ND.
The Tiger Claw Kick shield was both compact and light while absorbed kicks very well. It had a great diversity of handle positions that were also very comfortable. The small width of the shield (4″ narrower than my shields) made it easier than most to reposition quickly while providing a narrow target for more accurate kicking.
It had adjustable forearm straps that are not generally associated with kicking shields. It also had 4 different handle positions which provided for secure and effective repositioning in a number of directions. This is great when training a snap kick to groin or various other odd shield positions. Being so diverse makes it a great shield for Martial Fitness programs such as our MAX Performance sessions.
Overall the quality of the shield was very good and made it ideal for both men and especially woman martial artist. Amy Kelly, another THT JKD student, fell in love with this shield after using it. Cost for this shield is very low at around $45.00 on Amazon or $65.59 on TigerClaw.com.
