Betty Lou Sweeney 36 Minute 58 Second Plank

Here is an inspiring story one of my Strength & Conditioning students brought to my attention yesterday. What’s even more inspiring is that all these individuals mentioned are from the older generation.

Rob Dulieu age 51, set the stage on December 4th 2010 by breaking and setting the Guinness World Record for the plank with an amazing time of 19 Minute and 58 second. Paul Drinan age 68, followed up with a time of 33 minutes and 40 seconds. In addition Paul also performed 101 consecutive pushups and 29 pull-ups (both records at his local gym).

Betty Lou Sweeney,a 71-year-old woman, broke the Guinness World Record plank with a time of 36 minutes and 58 seconds this past week.

Betty Lou began her journey two years prior while severely overweight and nearly dieing from a infection that shut down her kidneys. She defied the odds by surviving and pledged to make a major life change. She did just that by hiring a personal trainer, working out six days a week and losing over 100 lbs.

Today, more than 100 pounds lighter, Betty Lou is medication-free healthy and now a world-class record holder.
