Training Plan Design
What does Program or Training Plan Design mean?
Program design simply means creating a purposeful system or plan to achieve a specific goal. The key words here are “purposeful system.” The purpose of a training plan is to provide a path for the client or student to achieve his or her goal. I usually break program designs up into several Microcycles within a single Macrocycles.
What is a Microcycle?
The main criteria determining the microcycle structure are the training goal, training factors, and desired improvements in athletic performance.
Microcycles or a series of Microcycles will focus on specific performance adaptation such as:
- Strength Endurance
- Strength
- Power
- Speed
- Maintenance
- Reconditioning
- Peaking
In the case of my personal Combative/Martial Athletes, it will also focus on specific technical skills.
What is a Macrocycle?
A macrocycle contains several microcycles. The microcycle is used to plan for the immediate future, whereas the macrocycle projects the structure of a training program several weeks in advance. Therefore, one could think of the macrocycle as the general structure of training and the microcycle as the exact method used to accomplish the targeted goals.
How is it different than Remote Personal Training?
The difference between the Program Design and Remote Personal Training services is:
Remote Personal Training is a monthly ongoing service whereas I assess your workouts along the way. The Program Design is a one time fee in which a Training Plan is designed for you. If you are currently training in the Combat Arts or Sports Athletes I can design a Strength & Conditioning program to fit your schedule. Personal students can also request skills training focus in their Training Plan.
Here is sample Training Plan. It does not include any specific Strength & Conditioning or Sport Specific workouts that will be included in your Training Plan.
Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4 Day 5 Day 6
AM Session Strength & Conditioning Stand-Up Skills Strength & Conditioning Strength & Conditioning Rest Strength & Conditioning
PM Session Inside Fighting & Takedown Skills Light Skills Session Kicking Skills Ground Skills Light Skills Session Rest
I will create a program specifically for you to do in your home or gym. Each program designed is based around one six week Mesocycle or training phase.
